Posted by Karen at January 9, 2004 09:18 AMBah. I don't need that book. You use a semicolon in two ways: one, to replace a conjunction, or two, separating list of phrases or expressions. (Replacing the comma used in single word lists.) That'll be eleven pounds and 99 pence, please.
Colons now: a different kettle of fish.
