Comments: Fame Academy.

I remember Luke Goss (Bros) saying that being famous (which he is), without being successful (which he no longer is) is one of the hardest things to cope with. In real life some years ago I met Ken Buchanan, once world flyweight boxing champion (or some such thing). He said people would call him a has-been. He would reply, "At least I *was* something." My own life isn't totally immune to these ideas. It's tricky. But still, I personally would "go for it" over and over again, and I've got the ultimate admiration both for those who made it and for those who tried and didn't.

Maybe this is a pedantic view, but I'm not convinced that fame is any kind of fulfillment - it's just a degree of visibility.

On a related note, though it's sometimes considered bad form to link to one's own posts I hope you won't mind me pointing you to this Dido quote from a couple of years ago. I thought it was a neat comment on the frequently cyclical nature of fame.
