Ahh British chart music, I remember that...one of the benefits of living in Japan is that I don't have to experience it anymore.
Posted by bogue at December 6, 2005 01:31 PMI heard another elderly James Blunt fan was Bernard Matthews. He's particularly fond of performing his hit song at Karaoke parties.

Horrible thought.
Oh, wait.
Good joke.
Posted by robin at December 7, 2005 05:08 PMThat was a heartwarming post. Interesting, my Dad, (I'm now 38) would send me out to get Stevie Wonder. A physics specialist based in oxford in those days, he was embarrassed to go to chart shops. 'Isn't she lovely' was his favourite, and he'd keep on about the rythm expertise in the man. It's quite true, he has art.
I agree all this modern crooning gets to be too slushy and I think nearly all the generations feel the same!
Do come visit and comment chez moi when you have a moment, it's good to get the family viewpoint.
Hmmmm. Still waiting for Stevie to arrive.
Apparently he was quite good before that 'I just called to say I love you' debacle.
Posted by JonnyB at December 10, 2005 03:21 PMHello JB.
Nice to see you out and about on a Saturday. And he was good. Hard to keep it up in the songwriting game though. Shame that for many people that's probably the only song of his they know. Still, HE never wrote a song about a post office.
Posted by robin at December 10, 2005 06:52 PMJames Obtuse changed his name from "Blount" (pron. "Blunt") because it was thought to be too posh. He is, I'm told, very posh indeed.
